Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (OAG)
The Pennsylvania Attorney General needed a highly efficient criminal investigation and evidence case management system for use by the OAG’s Criminal Division agents, lawyers and administrators. The OAG Chief Information Officer required the system be based on the Microsoft .NET Framework. The Modularis Criminal Investigation System (MCIS) was selected to replace an extremely antiquated mainframe system. The system was difficult to use – particularly by computer and paperwork adverse agents. The inflexible system did not meet the needs of the Criminal Division as its scope and caseload increased.

Importantly, OAG technology professionals can extend the system and create custom integrated applications without the assistance of Modularis consultants.
The Modularis Criminal Investigation System is used by hundreds of OAG personnel, statewide. Benefits of MCIS include a highly intuitive user interface which has led to broader acceptance and use by agents and other personnel, advanced workflow capabilities, expanded functional capabilities to support the investigative activities of agents, more detailed and accurate evidence tracking and improved reporting. The highly sophisticated system manages complex structured data, yet is easy to use, ensures complete control over data ownership and security, and enables OAG personnel to create custom queries and reports, add new user-defined fields, and integrate with other software systems through a secure web service-based API.
